The exuberant growth of the bariatric surgeries has created a contingent of people who may need assis-tance in emergencies for the most diverse causes, from simple cases of abdominal discomfort to situations that can evolve seriously if they are not diagnosed and treated with agility and safety. We present a brief description of the main surgical complications after gastroplasty detailing the clinical, diagnostic and treat-ment, in order to arouse interest in the subject. Anatomical changes in intestinal transit can lead to specific complications. Understanding the anatomy and physiology of surgeries and the likely complications can greatly contribute to an effective diagnosis and effective therapy in time to reduce further aggravations.
