A common event in pediatric population, foreign body aspiration occurs more frequently among children under 3 years-old. Currently, the therapeutic-diagnostic methodof choice consists of foreign body extraction via bronchos-copy. However, the procedure is not infallible and is capable of iatrogenic events that require an approach by open surgery. In this case report, we present an 8-month-old infant with accidental aspiration of an LED lamp and failure attempt of removal by bronchoscope. The final therapy was a thoracotomy with bronchotomy to remove the foreign body followed by surgical bronchus repair.
