Due to the great importance of Health Care-Related Infections and their relationshipwith high morbidity and morta-lity in hospital settings, this work aims to show theimportance of studying and preventing infections related to heal-th care and how itworks can be approached in academia. The activity was carried out during practicalclasses of Me-dical Microbiology of the medicine course at theFederal University ofJataí. To carry out the experiment, samples were collected, with the aid of swabs, fromobjects of daily use, as well as samples of hands without asepsis and with asepsis. Theobjective was to observe the growth, or not, of microorganisms in the differentconditions analyzed. The samples were sown in plates containing culture medium andincubated for subsequent microbiological verification. After the analysis of the plates,the growth of bacteria and fungi was observed in the plate corresponding to the so-wingof objects and hands without asepsis. In the place where a sample from asepsis handswas sown, the absence of growth of microorganisms was observed. Thus, theimportance of performing hand asepsis as an important form of prevention of HAIs isevident. In addition, this type of experience reinforces the importance of these practicesto me-dical students and initiates a debate on the topic and encourages behavioralchanges that favor and strengthen heal-th
